New Music for Viola and Piano. This piece is written
in strict Neo-Classical style.The five variations
are from an Aria by Alessandro Scarlatti, which will
be familiar to many as a favorite from the
celebrated edition "Twenty-Four Songs and Arias"
published by G. Schirmer. Just to be sure, the
Public Domain status of Scarlatti's Aria has been
verified with that publisher. This piece makes an
excellent addition to the Viola recital literature
for intermediate players, as well as a Solo and
Ensemble competition piece that has not been heard
before.
